Bring your family to the BMO Learning Centre and explore art interactively.

Today's Studio Sunday: Hooked on the Prairies featuring fibre artist Shelly Nicolle Phillips.

Shelly Nicolle-Phillips currently lives in Regina, Saskatchewan but was born and raised in Prince Edward Island. Shelly began rug hooking in 2015, inspired by the many rugs that were hooked by her grandmother and the long tradition of hooking in the Maritimes. Her art is a mix of traditional primitive rug hooking designs and more modern pieces including many landscapes. Rug hooking is a simple craft to learn and an accessible way to express creativity. The simple motion of hooking rugs can also be a relaxing almost meditative practice. Shelly loves to teach others how to hook rugs and introduce them to the traditional craft.

You can follow her on Facebook and Instagram as Hooked on the Prairies.

Everyone welcome | 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
